What was a worse loss 21-0 or 44-16?

21-0 would probably have been harder to take as a fan.

44-16 felt like a more embarrassing performance.

Well, I think one game involves both Alabama and LSU, and one game doesn’t... so if you are including the set of all games played by either team regardless of opponent, I would say the gatorade bath game.

Clemson's a great team. LSU is lucky they don't play them.

21-0 was a strong statement.

Both were bad losses, but I gotta go with 21-0.

In the Alabama-LSU game, Alabama didn't get their TD until the 4th quarter.

In the Alabama-Clemson game, Alabama was shut out of the endzone after the 1st quarter.

IOW, the 2019 game was over at the half, while the 2012 game was still in doubt.

I’d rather not go than get there and score 0 points.

21-0 is absolutely embarrassing

In the movie “Made in America” about Don King he says about the Ali/Foreman fight that Ali knocked out Foreman and it took him 20 years to get back up.

That’s how 21-0 felt to LSU. Sure Clemson handled Bama but it’s not like they set their whole program back. I promise if Bama/Clemson face off again this year it’ll be equally lopsided the other way.

Alabama had over 400 yards of offense against Clemson.

LSU got shut out, crossed midfield once and didn’t reach 100 yards. LSU had five first downs:

Both pretty embarrassing in terms of performance. Like one poster said, that game set LSU back YEARS. Maybe the only bright spot, if there is any, was that LSU beat Bama in T-Town that year. While it was obvious that LSU and Bama were the best teams in the country that year, had Okie State been given a shot, that LSU squad would have gone down as one of the greatest ever. I get depressed talking about it. I think last years 44-16 was such a fluke. No way anyone believes Clemson is 28 points better.

This is a stupid thread, maybe a few fans of other programs might of liked both teams lost. LSU and Alabama have championship or bust programs, which I can't for the life of me figure out why some LSU posters quickly jumped on Clemson's dick all offseason. Then the same posters belittle Aggies for doing the same dickride.

21-0 was worse for LSU as it set the program back.

44-16 was bad, but Alabama still has Coach Saban, and as we all know he will work even harder to get back on top.

44-16 may have been the worse thing for college football however, because I think if Alabama had won, Coach Saban would have been very close to retiring.

Now, he will be even more determined to end up GOAT. I used to think he would retire around 2022, but now I think it will be after Alabama wins another 3 NC, when ever that is.

21-0, because LSU had already beaten that team and they did not deserve to be in the national championship game anyway. It was BS to make LSU play them again, when they'd already beaten them once. So you finish 1-1 against a team on the season, and that team is the "champ". C'mon mane.

Worse loss as in more embarrassing? Or worst loss as in what hurt more?

21-0 had to hurt more. Playing a rival team you already beat (coached by your former coach) after the best season in program history, and then losing the title to them anyway.

The Clemson loss was sprinkled in amongst a run of titles for Bama. And it just clearly looked like Clemson was the better team. Can’t be upset about that.

LSU had shown they could beat Bama, so to lose in that situation given the rest of the circumstances was really hard to swallow.

As far as more embarrassing - I don’t know. Both are pretty embarrassing. I’d say LSU had the worse showing of the two. But Bama was a favorite and a lot of people thought they’d destroy Clemson, while the opposite happened

21-0 our defense played their arse off and it wasn’t until a late in the 4th quarter that a TD was scored.

44-16 was a domination in all aspects of the game.

But 21-0 hurts far worse to me

I'd say equal. Both were embarrassing. But not crossing the 50 until late in the game has to tip the scale to 21-0.

While I gained more personal enjoyment from 44-16, 21-0 had to be a tougher loss because it was a mulligan game, effectively erasing that regular season that would have gone down as one of the greatest.

Any time you get shut out, even if it's 3-0 or 7-0...that's bad. Getting beat 44-16 isn't pleasant, either, but at least you scored.

While both aren't pretty, I'd say the 21-0 score is the worst of the two.

There is literally no justification whatsoever for anything other than 21-0.

-For starters, bama actually moved the ball with ease between the 20s. They were just constantly fricked over by poor throws, uncharacteristic turnovers, head scracthing playcalls, and elite performance by clemson. Yardage was jsut about even. Somethign like that you can just chalk up to having a bad day and move on.
-Bama has a barrel of titles lately and will probably be in contention for several more as long as saban is there. They also have a natty over clemson and beat the shite out of clemson their last time out. LSU hasn't seriously challeneged for a title since 21-0
-LSU had been losing to bama for a while and then finally beat them in a game for the ages, only to lose to them when it really mattered
-LSU didn't score a damn point and barely crossed midfield all game, only once IIRC if at all
-That 2011 LSU team was on the way to making a case for one of the best seasons in CFB history, and by far the best ever in baton rouge. They beat multiple ocnference champs and ran roughshod over jsut about everyone that year, then laid an egg in the title game
-Goes without saying but losing to bama was the worst conceivable team they coudl have lost to, beign rivals and having saban and all
-The game was played in their backyard
-THey refused to make adjustments and pull their QB that had no business playing in that game
-Clemson was a great team that bama can say they just lost to a better tema that day. LSU had alreayd beaten bama in tuscalososa.
