Jamarcus Russell
I remember when Jamarcus Russell was a monster and thought he would be great in NFL. Is he a top 3 qb in lsu history in your opinion as far as quarterbacks?

LSU history? 100% Yeah
He was fricking great for us
Shame he got lazy in the NFL, he had all the potential but just fricked it all up.
It's also not hard to be top 3 for us. We haven't really had a great history of QBs.

Russell is the best ever, his 2006 season he just made play after play. Believe he led all power 5 QBs in passer rating that season.

I would say yes but he’s a complicated case. When he was on he was a fricking beast. He has a bunch of 4th quarter come back wins as well. But he also was prone to a completely bonehead play at an inopportune time.
His second half of the the 2006 season was the best qb play I’ve seen at LSU by a good margin.

Hypothetical
If JR goes to a decent franchise with stable coaching and front office does he become a better version of Big Ben Roth?
This old SI article is a good read

Yes.
It's a shame what the syrup can do to a man.

If burrow has a big season in 2019 and ends up getting drafted, i see him having a much better career in the NFL

Got By college with his physical stature too lazy to make it in the pros

Incredible college player then became the biggest bust in NFL history

Such an ignorant, oversimplified statement. I've known a lot of people who had a similar physical stature as Jamarcus who couldn't start at quarterback for a junior high team.

C'mon man. Ben Roethlisberger is a future hall-of-famer. You think Jamarcus Russell could have been a better version of that?
David Garrard? Sure. Jake Delhomme? Possibly

Jamarcus Russell
Never thought he was that great. He had a very strong arm, but his decision making was slow and he folded like a lawn chair under pressure. Never have been more surprised than when the Raiders took him number 1.

Yes. One of 3 LSU QBs to surpass 3,000 yards in a season. He was clutch.
His 2006 stats:
232 of 342
67.8%
3129 yards
28 TDs
8 ints.
All in a Les Miles offense.

Arguably our best.
However it takes more than superior talent to be a successful QB in the NFL.
Oakland was stupider than him to pick him #1 overall and pay him what they did.

I always thought the Raiders was the worst team he could end up with.
