Maybe he did honestly just fall asleep and this is just a random tragedy.

My guess the teen could have been travelling as low as 40 - 50 mph to cause the fatality.

These 2 things don't make sense to me. The police report already said he was traveling "well over the posted speed limit" which on SJP is 55. And I think the kid said he fell asleep to try and mitigate the charge. No way he was going that fast on the verge of going to sleep. My guess is that he was high and hauling arse.

Such a sad situation. I have teenaged boys and I cannot imagine what his parents are going through, let alone the kid when he came to. His life is ruined.

as someone who has blacked out on the interstate for 10 to 15 seconds before and woke back up and was going 110 - it could happen. not saying the MJ did or did not have an impact, but the idea that he could have blacked out is plausible.

hope all parties find peace in the ordeal.

My point I was making is not my estimate of what speed he was going at the time of the accident, but that going at a slower speed still could result in a fatality, due to the angle of the impact and the fact that the Toyota Highlander head restraints appear average at best.

You sound like an old frick stuck under a rock. The actual speed is still in question, it’s all speculation. What is “well over the posted speed limit” anyways? It’s extremely plausible that if he fell asleep his body weight could have slumped him forward, including his right foot. As far as weed in his system goes, that could be anywhere from as old as a month. There’s no definitive science to prove he fell asleep due to impairment.
