I'd say that is pretty accurate. The Tennessee River Valley area as it extends across Alabama is probably the best fit for the epicenter.
I grew up north of Florence in NW Alabama. It was fairly well split between Bama and Auburn, but there used to be a significant UT presence through the 80s and 90s.
Not sure if they have moved back north of the state line, died off or jumped bandwagons, but it is far less prevalent now.

Interesting.
In my mind, the Florence-Muscle Shoals area leans way more towards Bama than most of the rest of the state. It seems the far West of the state is more pro-Bama: Shoals... down to Tuscaloosa... down to Mobile County. Which makes sense since its furthest from Auburn.
Auburn seems to have its highest percentage concentration of fans in OTM Birmingham, Huntsville, Dothan, and Montgomery (excluding Prattville which leans more towards Bama).... which are mostly in the Eastern half of the state.
