I fully understand that Saban wants a 9th SEC game for all.
But, he certainly could go out and have our AD schedule as tough opponent as possible.
Although, that is easier said than done with schedules made out so far in the future.
Further, it really isn't beneficial in today's scheduling to play any tougher teams OOC, due to the possibility of losses.
Do you not think that tOSU would have gotten into the CFP in '17 over Bama had they not played OU and lost, but instead played someone like Kent State and won?

Until it's a level playing field for everyone (which Saban is promoting), it will continue to be the same with shite for schedules.

Counter-argument, the only reason Ohio State got in the 2016 playoffs was because they went into Norman and won

Saban isn't going to sacrifice winning a Natty for putting more butts in the seats for home games. If there isn't going to be some P5 rule that states that P5's only play P5's, then Saban isn't going to put us at a disadvantage. The SEC is already tough enough and it only seems to be getting better again. Saban has proposed that 9th conference game every spring in the conference meetings for the last 5+ years and the proposal has been shot down each time by a 13-1 vote, up until last year when Gustav finally agreed.
It is what it is and it won't be changing anytime soon.
