Why would he agree to anything less then what he is owed per his contract? If he accepts less he's an idiot unless he already has another job lined up.

6 Million or whatever now plus some sort of assistant or front office NBA job is better than 8 million over 4 years without employment

His buyout is $8 million right now but it drops to $6 million on 4/15.

Most likely the discussion has been what number between those two will get him gone now. It's one of those few times where each side has legitimate motivation to negotiate. Bama wants to move on today and Avery knows he has a very narrow window to get more than $6 mil.

Agree. I said the exact thing when Gus agreed to lower buyout last year. The signed contract gives the coaches all the leverage.
