Guess who is in charge of raising money for UA's Performing Arts Center on the old Bryce campus? Yep, Bill Battle! Oh, and his wife. Maybe the inclusion of her will help him out.
The Board of Trustees has always been a little too self satisfied. How many of you realize that UA is now ranked far below its peak ranking in USN&WR around 2010? For some reason, this Board is committed to admitting students who belong at junior colleges. Neither Clemson, nor Auburn feel the need to admit so many lower tier students, but UA does. We have more top students in actual numbers (ACT of 32 or higher) than virtually all other SEC schools, except for Texas A&M, but we also have far more lower tier (ACT of 22 or less) students in actual numbers than every other school in the SEC. FACT.
Raising standards just a bit would dramatically improve graduation rates, retention rates, the campus overcrowding problem, and Alabama's rep for being virtually an open admissions school. It isn't really but it sure lets in more lower tier students than Auburn does.
