Thought it may be an idea to post all things Spring Football related in a separate thread instead of cluttering up the Megathread... if not, then can move everything here to the 1st thread and just make it part of the "not recruiting" clutter

For you that would like it, here is Alabama Crimson Tide on AL.com Youtube Channel

The annual A-Day Game is the 15th and final practice of the spring for the Crimson Tide and takes place at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Admission to the scrimmage will once again be free to the public.
quote:

March 8 will also be the first practice for Alabama's seven new assistant coaches -- as well as the first practice as coordinator for Pete Golding -- and 15 early enrollees. Coach Nick Saban will hold eight press conferences, including one after March 8's first practice.
Links and summaries of all Pressers will be posted here along with observations from as many reporters who post about the practices. Rosters, projections, and as many downright wild arse speculations I can find.

I'd like to add my name to the add weight side. I'm up about 5lbs. It isn't good weight. I'm skipping the 4th quarter program and moving on to happy hour

Expert Roundtable: Burning questions in spring football the writers address several schools and their upcoming needs (not a premium read)
quote:

Alabama: Who takes over on the offensive line? Travis Reier, BamaOnLine: "With center Ross Pierschbacher and offensive tackle Jonah Williams moving on. And it's not just the experience UA is losing with the duo departing, it's that they manned the 2 most critical positions up front during the 2018 season. Additionally, guard Lester Cotton has exhausted his eligibility after making 28 starts in Tuscaloosa. Meanwhile, fellow interior lineman Deonte Brown, who was suspended for the 2019 College Football Playoff after failing an NCAA-administered drug test, isn't expected to be available for the start of the 2019 campaign. "With all of that in mind, junior Alex Leatherwood is a good bet to move from right guard to left tackle, where he spent most of his freshman season in 2017. A tackle tandem of Leatherwood and Jedrick Wills is one that most UA fans envisioned for 2019. As for the interior spots, program veteran and unit-wide swingman Chris Owens served as the backup to Pierschbacher last season. Redshirt freshman Emil Ekiyor and redshirt senior Matt Womack, who started every game at right tackle two seasons ago, are a couple of other players to watch at the center and guard positions, respectively."

With one of the best OL classes in the Saban era, it should be an interesting Spring and Fall, watching for players such as E. Neal and D. Dalcourt as well as others vie for PT when the season begins... seems OL always needs at least a year of seasoning; but HCNS never walks away from letting those exceptional talents start as freshmen (J. Williams, C. Robinson in just the last few cycles)

Alabama Spring Position Preview: Quarterback, running back

Excerpts from Charlie Potter article on 247
quote:

WHO’S COMING BACK? QB: Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, Layne Hatcher ... Tagovailoa ...his experience will help the offense with a few playmakers moving on to the NFL. There will also be no talk of a quarterback competition this offseason, As for Jones, he has a chance to rise into the backup role this spring and summer. He will have to fight off Hatcher and the Tide’s newcomers, but Jones is now the second-most experienced quarterback on Alabama’s roster entering the 2019 season.
RB: Najee Harris, Brian Robinson, Jerome Ford Harris was the third running back of UA’s three-headed monster last year. He had more rushing yards (783) than Jacobs on fewer carries (117) and actually led the team in yards per carry with 6.69. He is now entering his third spring at Alabama and will be the No. 1 option out of the backfield, barring injury. Robinson will also see his role increase and should benefit from the touches he will see this spring. The same can be said for Ford, who saw time in four games but was still able to redshirt. He will be the No. 3 back this spring with no tailback early enrollees

OL Alabama Spring Position Preview: Offensive line
Excerpts from Charlie Potter's series on 247

quote:

WHO’S COMING BACK? Jedrick Wills, Alex Leatherwood, Deonte Brown, Matt Womack, Chris Owens, Emil Ekiyor, Scott Lashley, Tommy Brown, Kendall Randolph, Hunter Brannon Wills and Leatherwood started all 15 games at right guard and right tackle, respectively, a year ago. ...could we see Leatherwood move back to left tackle where he replaced the Williams in the 2018 national title game? It’s a possibility. Other than those two, Alabama also has some returning players with first-team experience. Brown started five games at left guard last year, but he was suspended for the playoff by the NCAA and his eligibility for the upcoming season is still unclear. So, he’s up in the air. Womack also has starting experience having manned the right tackle position two years ago. He could play at either tackle or guard this spring to set up a return to the starting five. That leaves one -- or two positions, and Owens and Ekiyor received high praise from Pierschbacher during his media availability in Mobile, Ala. How the offensive line shakes out will be a top storyline. WHO’S COMING IN? Evan Neal, Pierce Quick, Amari Kight, Darrian Dalcourt, Tanner Bowles All five of the offensive linemen the Tide signed in the 2019 recruiting cycle are already on campus as five of the team’s 15 early enrollees. Quick has been in town the longest, practicing with the team prior to the College Football Playoff. It will be interesting to see if any of the young players push the veterans for playing time, especially Neal, who weighed in at 6-foot-7, 360.

Can a sunshine pumper convince me that despite losing Q, that our pass rush will be better than last year with Allen, Terrell Lewis, Enoma, etc? We didn’t get a whole lot of pressure on either Fromm or Lawrence

Auburn got the primetime ABC game week 1. Probably means we’ll be slotted at 230
