And our guys don’t play defense that resembles Huggins teams.

It's not good defense.
the bigger problem is we havent had very athletic or fast on-ball defenders which results in sloppy fouls.
we also have consistently made poor decisions on when to trap, when to double-team, etc..
our on-ball defending isnt really very aggressive, certainly nowhere near the kindof intensity of nolans teams.
our teams never look well drilled on how to play defense well. thats not because the rule changes. other coaches have still been successful using the same general philosophy Mike has tried to pull off.

Eh, they are having a legit rebuilding year. We would be perfectly fine with that record considering Huggins made the S16 3 of the the last 4 years.

And that is part of the problem, this can only be coached so much. Have to grab the right guys for this and makes it a hard system to run because of it. The system can certainly work very well but you make it harder on yourself than just playing a very good halfcourt defense.

which hes hasnt ever been able to get it seems, and hes not crafty enough to scheme around it.

I've been very disappointed with our bench production too.
Gabe has no business of shooting
Missouri Bench
South Carolina Bench

Nope and it is one of the reasons I want to move on from the system. If there was a young and up coming coach that was running an effective press, I might think about it but I don't really see any out there. I also think we just need a fresh start and stop trying to chase the past. Lets be honest, no one would care if we started only running a zone defense if it was winning.

I love to see a good zone defense. Fun to give the opponents something different to prepare for, kinda like running the triple option in football. Does it have the highest potential? No but can be very useful. Seems like every other year Syracuse barely makes the tournament and seeks to at least the S16.
I don't think he would leave Washington this early but would love to grab Mike Hopkins. Spent a long time under Boeheim and was going to replace him until he was tired of waiting.

I understand, but seeing our press has been a bit de-pressing!

That last one you snuck in. It was really nice of MJ to step aside so Olajuwon could win a couple.

He knew he didn't want none, was a smart move by him to not tarnish that perfect finals record
