It's a money grab ploy, 2019 edition.
Exposes A&M's hair brained strategy to capitalize on the need for more higher education opportunities among the state institutions in Texas.
This extension of Perry & Sharpe's "master plan" is just a recent installment of TAMU's embarrassing history of buffoonery, mismanagement and fiduciary ignorance that the state is tasked to subsidize.
The state has their successful model with the UT system and drastically needs to develop the other state institutions to take on the supply and demand created by the ever growing population (note the mass exodus of TX HS grads to neighboring states offering in state tuition in a race to capitalize on the state of Texas' deficient options).
Instead of TAMU operating as the 2nd strong/self sufficient Tier 1 alleged flagship university to grow upon, the state is being leveraged by it's incompetency and short sighted selfishness to the detriment of the non tier ones. TAMU grew the student population by 33% overnight and failed to address the increased need for additional administration, faculty, housing, transportation etc..
In short, instead of satisfying the states needs for higher education, they leveraged the crises for personal need and are adding to the problem vs providing solution.
This "leech mentality" is a century old and the core reason behind the disdain you see from most Longhorns and many in the state. The state needs a strong second brother... not a step child with his hand constantly out.

Did you even read the article, mensa? A&M is essentially asking for a similar amount of money that Texas got last year, on a similar exception basis.

Also, A&M produces more successful graduates the Texas. It also gives back more to society via public service more then Texas. These are both easily verifiable facts.
In what world does that make them a "leach"? They are performing the goals of an institution of higher learning much better then their little brother in Austin. This makes t-shirt losers like yourself really upset. So upset you go to message boards that having nothing to do with the school you root for but couldn't get into to try to take mean old aggy down a peg. Your life is so meaningless that you desperately need people to perceive this one little morsel of self worth the same way you do.
