Franks wanted to go pro this year

Man, you're usually a really cogent and connected person, but I can't believe you think Franks would even be drafted this year, let alone make a scout team.

How many Quarterbacks can't even get 100 yards of passing against Missouri but his backup can?

How many Quarterbacks fail to get 100 yards before the middle of the third quarter not once, not twice, but four times over the year and make it in the NFL?

He can barely read defenses as it is at the college level, why on Earth would you think he's even remotely ready for the pros? He's not even half the passer Tebow was, who wasn't even known as a passer.

Franks will be our starter and he will have a good season.

This year very likely, next season I doubt it. I think he will have an above average year this year if he stays focused.

I do not think Trask sticks around beyond the spring.

Like I said: He has no reason to stay right this instant with the climate unless he thinks he has a legitimate shot at dethroning Franks. So he might leave, but it's weird it's taking so long. If he has zero chance to ever compete for the job here no matter how poorly the guy ahead of him plays, then it's definitely in his best interest to transfer -- even if it means going to a DII school.

Franks as a starter and Emory’s role

I don't think Franks has near the ceiling of Emory, and I'd be shocked by year three if Emory isn't the guy. His only drawbacks are youth and size but he will make those up this year.

This is irrelevant, Franks would ball out at the combine and a team would take him in day 1/early 2 on his arm strength and size alone.

I said Franks wanted to go pro. Not that I thought he should go pro. I don’t think he would’ve been a top pick this year. I think he would’ve been drafted in the late rounds on size and arm talent.

But I do think he puts up better numbers next year than he did this year. And he will go pro, and he will be a first round draft pick. Franks is Josh Allen 2.0. Same size, same arm talent, better numbers against better competition.

I have no doubt about that.

I think he will see the writing on the wall when he sees how reps are divvied out in Spring ball.
