One of my best friends is an Orthopedic Surgeon, and we talked at length about this procedure. He said, in summation, that bringing the Tibia and Fibula closer together for a few weeks removed the tension from the principal damaged ligament in a high ankle sprain, thereby allowing the injury to heal faster.

He painted the procedure in the light of being on the cutting edge of healing technology, and indicated that it would very much allow this injury to heal faster. Not a negative word was said about the procedure.

This radio doctor and this thread are much ado about nothing.

One of my best friends is an Amazonian voodoo doctor. His take is that the procedure is totally safe as long as Tua sprinkled some virgin blood on his ankle first and then ate 3 live monkey brains, followed up a week later with 4 chicken sacrifices.

Knowing our attention to detail, I'm sure the football staff has been doing these things.
