I didn't see any such thing in that article. It was all about scheduling.

UCF might be comparable to the Mississippi schools academically, probably with more upside, but the directional name can never be overcome! A university of "Central Florida".... nah. The die has been cast. Have fun in the AAC and ultimately division 2.

Sankey stated to "look inward" for better scheduling/SOS.
That could be read as "welcome to the SEC where being a member helps your SOS instantly."
You think the ACC would take a 3rd Fl. team? Doubt it!
You wouldn't have to deal with GOR timing/deals to add UCF.

Also, from the snubbing they got these last 2 seasons in the CFP, being a P5 member helps put them into actual consideration.

Any expansion needs to improve our conference's academic profile.

UCF is ranked below Mississippi State in almost every metric.

That's a definite no.

Florida would pitch a fit if this was even a serious possibility

I'm curious, what are these metrics that have MSU over UCF?

Seems to me it would be better to be the number three public in 20 million and booming Florida over the number 2 and... well, Mississippi.

Cold day in hell before Florida goes along with that.

Don't really care what Florida thinks about it.

States that have 2 SEC teams

Alabama
Mississippi
Tennesse

Georgia Did before Tech left
Louisiana did before Tulane left

Florida's population can afford to support another SEC Team

Mizzou beat UCF in 2012 and 2014 in a home and home.

Don’t think so, they would be the largest university in the conference. The seem like a perfect fit for B12 they add them along with USF. Would work well. Ga State if they were much better would fit too; give B12 stakes in GA and FL. But GaSt hasn’t transcended from a commuter school like UCF has. Memphis might work as a second team with UCF.

CGSC Lobotomy, still waiting on these MSU-UCF metrics.

It takes 11 votes to get in... GA, FL, SC would never do it, and I doubt Texas Am would either.

Of course, kind of a non-starter. UCF would NEVER be invited, nor should they.

i know nobody gives af about swimming... but the fact a school with 66k total students and located in florida has no swim program, it says everything about how not sec ready they are.

Pretty simple. UCF isn't even considered a "Tier 1" University. Mississippi State is.

Anyone suggesting the SEC, ACC, or Big XII would add UCF doesn't actually understand what drives expansion.

If you school doesn't add $$$ to the football TV contract revenue for the conference, you aren't going to be asked to join. UCF (or USF) doesn't add any value by that metric to any conference, even ones with no Florida presence like the Big X/XII. That's why the Big XII took a pass on them in the last round of expansion, ie. they determined there was going to be no bump in the TV contract offered after talking with ESPN and the networks with UCF in the fold.

The only team outside the power 5 who would be an attractive pickup to anyone would be Notre Dame. The group of 5 schools otherwise are in a long term financial death spiral as things currently stand.

Come now, the only rag that uses tier rankings is USN which ranks UCF higher.

In fact, UCF is one of 115 Carnegie R1 universities. MSU is R2.

Try harder.

No, just run his yap. They would have lost minimum of 3 games in the SEC West! Do your job LSU!
