I have talked to some people who do much better film study/review than I do and honestly a lot can just get chalked up to players making good one on one tackles/getting lucky and getting the fingertip that slows down the carrier just enough.
Also yes the RPO's drastically change downfield blocking from WR's so that probably has an effect too.
That would make a lot of sense because like you said, it just feels odd that we haven't. We've broken past the 1st level a ton, and these guys are all excellent backs at breaking tackles and hitting the jets. It just......hasn't happen as much.
Well good, hopefully that means we saved up all our opponents missed tackle luck for the next 2 games.

Surprised that number vs uga isn’t higher. Felt like we were gashing them. Can’t believe we didn’t run more
Brown went out of the game and suddenly our run game ground to a halt.

Seems to be a trend.
I also have to think Tua's initial injury had something to do with it. We almost completely stopped running our RPO stuff, and with that we seemed to stop running right up the gut (which was their weak spot). Those slow counter runs outside were driving me frickin nuts.

Tbh I don’t think we have an explosive runner either. Our guys are great but they don’t have great speed at all.

I remember brown got hurt but I didn’t even pay attention if he came back in. Yeah that would make a big difference

The thing is last year Damien was getting a 60-80 yd run almost every game, you don't need to be explosive to have big explosive running plays. Jacobs has great speed, Damien and Najee both runs 4.5's in pads, that's plenty of speed if the blocking and lanes are there.

Love Damien but if he isn’t always getting caught from behind lol
Posted on 12/6/18 at 5:04 pm to Kcstills17
Sure, but that was 60-80 yds past the line of scrimmage and normally by some tiny corner like Adoree Jackson (2 years ago I know).

He is a competent pass blocker... there are years Cotton would've been a breath of fresh air pass blocking wise for us, but Brown is such a more impactful run blocker and an equivalent at minimum pass blocker.

Tua as the commentators pointed out if healthy had been so accurate down field aal year.
That he could pass up wide open drop offs in the flats to be more aggressive down field.
But being off as he was he should have dumped off to jacobs and harrs in the flats.
With UGA giving our o-line a very hard time was dropping there LBer's coverage leaving 5-7 yard distances from our RB.
Don't get me wrong Tua's numbers based on the opening drive and Irv's big drop would have been much better,
but more importantly we could have been up 10-0.
Waddle was open on the pick UGA got but Tua was not planting and following thru.
Even the trow to Smitty on the interference Tua threw going back and not following thu.
Uga and kirby knew Tua was big play hunting.

I agree with you, but I think your formatting got messed up somewhere in there. Little hard to follow.

Jalens Ankle Injury was a lot worse than Tua's correct?
I think we should definitely have a similar package to what Tebow did his Freshman year for Jalen.

Theoretically, but all ankle injuries heal so differently just depending on what got damaged.

Can you imagine just springing the triple option on someone for a bowl game? Mad scientist shite

Haha! I swear I did the exact same thing, thinking that those were dates. Don't feel bad

I try not to talk about players by name when criticizing, didn't think about how that order would look like a date.

That would be such a depressing development... If we go back at all towards ball control and not letting our athletes catch passes I'll be pretty sad
It would be a colossal waste of talent. With the improvements Jalen has made throwing the ball, there's no reason to not let him throw the ball, especially against such a bad defensive team.

Great convo happening in here!
Our run game has been steady not crazy good but good enough. Like you’ve said, RPO can open up huge run lanes and jacobs, and the Harris twins did well on up the gut calls. And frankly against Oklahoma we could try out the two back set with one HB and TE blocking and make some huge gains while crushing the clock.

Bama's run game has been good with a healthy Brown. Sucks whenever Cotton is in.
