Seriously though. It's a bit embarrassing to go from one of the top basketball programs to missing the tournament/losing early every year. I don't think anyone would disagree that Cal has underperformed the past few years compared to when he first got here

FWIW, Hall was a Rupp protege and never fully valued while coaching. Rick was forced to play Rupp ball and had success with that formula. Tubby was criticized but he was good about scheduling teams you actually wanted to see (especially at home). Cal really has no excuse for his history at UK and has destroyed the fans and state that made it great.

Joe Hall - solid coach, followed a legend and did well.
Rick Pitino - Savior of the program. Turned it around instantly. Great coach, great recruiter.
Tubby Smith - Best X's and O's coach of the four. Got his title, but struggled with recruiting.
Cal - Great recruiter, man, the talent he has overall brought in, but only one title speaks to his overall coaching ability being average at best.

Cal needs to go. He can't coach worth a shite and he isn't getting the best recruits anymore. He can't win unless all five of his guys are better than yours and he can still frick that up too.

Boy, what I posted at the beginning of this thread still holds true and that was back in 2018. Going back to his first years at UK and getting schooled by Huggy opened my eyes back then.

Bumping thanks to Cal trying to play up the basketball program over the football program when he can't get passed the first round in post season

Didn't watch any of the game but I bet it went like this:
Force feed Oscar in the paint; it leads to a turnover either by Oscar driving into a double team or trying to force the ball into a sagging defense into him.
Wheeler trying to drive and drives into a double team.
That had to be like most of our possessions.
W/O Robic, we're fricked on the coaching side.
Next year with be better with the talent alone, but we'll still choke in s16 at the latest. Cal needs to retire.

Based upon Oscar's comments, it sounds like there are major locker room issues.
