Thanks bro. A quick Google search just confirmed what you said so my only decision is whether keep xfinity internet service or downgrade to AT&T.

We had AT&T, but moved a street over and had to get Xfinity due to the slower speed just literally 50 feet further away from the AT&T junction box.
If you stay with Xfinity, get your own modem and router. Don't rent theirs. Then check the bill each month and make sure they're not charging you to rent theirs. Seriously. They'll stick that shite on there.
I bought a Motorola MG7550 combined modem and router and it has been great. I think the newer version is the MG 7700.
(I always ran my own modem and router with AT&T, too.)
