Thought I would check out their little stingtalk.

I didn’t realize how bad it has gotten over there...

“Fire Paul Johnson?? Dont you know he earned his next contract extension with today's competitive loss? We nearly got back into the game!”

LOL

Some of them have apparently been advocating for hiring Butch Jones.

So there's something else to pray for when you lay your head down tonight.

I started college back in 2005. I don’t even consider Tech a rival anymore. Honestly, I wish we could just drop them from Georgia’s schedule lol

There's an article published yesterday that it would cost Tech 2 million to fire Paulie

More than a few of us oldsters would agree. Add Clemson as an even-year OOC and Texas as an odd-year game. We could have presence in Texas for recruiting.

No one in their right mind will follow after PJ unless they’re really desperate or unless they’re a triple option coach, too. You will have 1-2 months, give or take, to recruit a kid who can throw a forward pass. Guess what? That kid is also your starter in your first season because Tech’s current QBs aren’t cut out for a conventional offense. Oh, and he’s going to be behind an offensive line that sucks major dick and knows only how to dive at knees of defenders. You might have a little talent at WR, but they don’t really know how to run routes. In short, your offense will be a train wreck for at least 2 years.

It’s slightly better for the defense. I mean, you have some guys that can fit your scheme. That helps. There’s a big downside, though. None of them have talent.

Not only will your offense average about 10 ppg, your defense will also give up about 35 ppg. Basically, every game will be a blowout. With a coaching change, GT could easily be in for a South Carolina-esque 0-21 type skid. They really would have to hire a Derek Dooley. Yeah, it would really suck for 3 years but at least some rudimentary building blocks would be there to get GT bowl eligible again sometime within the next decade.

Tech dug the PJ grave, now they can sleep in it.

I know you're old, but you would absolutely be in the minority. Tech is our biggest rival bar none without question, and have been for over 100 years. I know dropping them sounds fun and all, but it does nothing in reality other than spare some DL knees during the PJ era.

That’s a great post, right there

The only offense I could see switching to with their talent is Malzhan's offense with Marshall at QB. Lots of misdirection, window dressing, don't need crushing blocks to get yards etc, with their current talent you could win 4-6 games and start building better in recruiting.

I am with Jeff, that's an insightful post. Pat yourself on the back, Mr Crisp.

Seriously, I haven't even thought about it like that. I knew they'd struggle to find a quality replacement but I never really thought about how absolutely screwed they'd be from a roster standpoint.

Anyone who calls them self a DAWG who doesn’t consider Tech our arch rival is deluding themselves. frick Tech. Can’t beat them often enough or by enough points and they can’t lose enough to satisfy a DGD.....whipping GTs arse is the birthright of UGA....it should never be taken off the schedule. We play fricking Missouri every year for fricks sake as a sacrifice to the almighty dollar....but we whip Techs arse 8 years out of 10 as a matter of the heart...take the heart out of CFB and replace it even more with the dollar and you might as well pull for laundry in the NFL.....

Only if you like going to see us maul MTSU, Austin Peay, Massachusetts, and all the other crap teams we have every year. I have been a season ticket holder since 1972 and for the last 20 years only go to maybe 3 home games a year. I would have been in Athens Saturday for a SC game, but for MTSU? Boys and Girls Club gets 4 tickets 3 games a year from me.

I agree that this would be their best chance to salvage some wins while phasing in a more modern attack, but we seriously might be talking about 3-4 wins if that.

Wouldn't mind seeing them win a few so they don't get serious about the idea of firing Johnson. I want him there for as long as possible

I think that may be just for us South Georgia baws...i hate UF with a passion...i can't even stand to look at their logo without getting irratated, but our brethren to the North seem to feel this way about Tech. I know fellow Dawgs up their who loathe Tech...and rank UF about 3rd or 4th down the list behind GT and Auburn...it's all about where you live within the state I think. Just last week guys from Augusta area were saying that USCe is their most hated "rival".

What I like best is Paul Johnson throwing his coaches under the bus for losses.

You must have forgotten what happened from 1998-2000. We lost 3 in a row, and GT people thought they were in for a streak like they had from 1949-1956. That 3-year losing streak to GT was one of the main reasons Jim Donnan was fired, by the way.

When we win, we just consider it taking care of business. When they win, it's their Super Bowl for a year. Right now, they think they have a good chance of beating us because they have won the last 2 in Athens.

Tech fans are god damned insufferable when they win. I wish nothing but humiliation and misery on their athletic programs. I want to whip their asses so bad every year that they consider shutting down the program.

I wish we'd drop Tech too. Penn State/Pittsburgh was a long standing annual rivalry game, but they saw the wisdom of phasing it out when the teams joined different conferences. Same with Texas/TAMU, and Oklahoma/Nebraska. Fans get over it and the teams get flexibility for additional interesting matchups that draw national attention.

Playing an annual home and home with GT is a net negative for UGA football IMO. If we go to a 9 game SEC schedule, it will be a bigger negative. Dislike of a team's fanbase isn't a good enough reason to keep this game.
