I don't get the love for Momma Goldberg's. One opened in Huntsville a few years ago and I don't think it lasted a year in one of the best locations in town. Maybe the franchise model doesn't work and you have to go to the original? The one in Huntsville seemed like a poor man's Firehouse which is really saying something about how bad it was. The franchise chains have been really hit or miss. There are a few here in Bham, but only one i'd actually go to with any consistency. The others don't do a good job with the sandwich. The original though is always solid. Most of the chains don't use enough sauce and don't steam long enough. It is definitely a style of sandwich you either love or hate though.

The one in downtown homewood is usually pretty decent. The one in downtown bham is crap. I took a picture one time because I legit got half the amount of nachos at the bham one as I did the homewood one. Even the second location in Auburn isn't always great. Definitely a place you need to try the original to get the best experience IMO.
