USCe has a couple of things going for it. Greek “row” is one. It’s not actually a row but a community. And the houses are really nice. The stadium’s similar to other SEC ones, but obviously could not be on-campus, and has a fun game day atmosphere, and very unique railroad cars where fans can tailgate. Unfortunately, it’s in a warehouse district and you don’t get a good feel of college football driving in and out. Once you’re out of your car and partying near the stadium, it’s fine. I have seen better.
I don’t think the situation will change soon, but I assume one day the school/private enterprise will buy the warehouses and build condos, apartments, restaurants, bars, etc. That’s already started to some degree.
It’ll never be Athens or Oxford, etc., but there’s a lot of room for improvement.

When's the last time you went to a game in Columbia? Yeah, there are still some warehouses there, but condos, apartments, renovations in around around the stadium began years ago and it looks markedly different.
I agree though, there really aren't any places to eat in the immediate vicinity. (We removed a Bojangles and added a Waffle House, that's really about it. )

Sounds like you are living there!
