I really do wonder why Mizzou's journalism department isn't tasked with more PR for the football team. Or, why there isn't more of a public push throughout Missouri, and a directed approach to STL/KC. It seems that this area could be greatly improved and make an impact.

Then again, I haven't lived in Missouri in 9 years, so maybe there is more than I remember when I was there.

For someone who has been on the internet as long as you have, you certainly have a very poor grasp of what a troll thread is.

This is a classic example of somebody getting mad because the shoe fits. I mean, god forbid we actually have some discussion on the program on this board. It might take away the ability for some posters to spend their time in the fricking Cardinals thread.

I know you only like to chime in on the nega Tiger stuff.

Hell, we'll probably lose a game this year so that should give you ample opportunity to revel in your comfort zone.

This is the 128th season of Mizzou Football. If someone needs the AD to pay for more media exposure to know about the football program, they might be better served by grabbing their own neck and pulling down until their ears pop. At that point their head should be far enough out of their arse to get the straight dope.

Our fan base loves a free meal almost as much as they like bitching about said free meal.

Successful D2 programs in state also hurts attendance. Even if it’s a thousand or two a week it hurts.

People have started identifying with these schools

Cheaper

Closer to home

Closer Road trips

Watch local kids play that you have watch play for years and were not good enough to play D1.

As I posted before, I believe BO turns the corner and the bandwagon starts to fill up again.

But as a long term plan (I'm just throwing this out there), how about treating St. Louis like a southern SEC city, and playing 2-3 games there to fill the football void the Rams departure made. Like so many southern cities, D1 football is as good as it gets, which creates loyalty and a fanbase. If Mizzou can manufacture a 25-30k fanbase in St. Louis and then get them to travel to Columbia, home games are in the 65k-70k range.

I would suggest going tit for tat with Arkansas. To please the big money boosters we are making y'all come to Little Rock every other year. Have us come to St. Louis when its your turn to host. Its a bit of a hike from NW Arkansas, but St. Louis is a fairly short drive for most of the state so there should be a decent turn out from Hog fans along with the St. Louis crowd.

Most of the SEC East would be hard pressed to make it to St. Louis unless its Tennessee. But Arkansas vs Missouri could probably draw a big house which would do a lot to help promote both programs (especially Mizzou) in the area.

The years where you aren't hosting us schedule a game against a MWC team or an old Big 8 opponent in Kansas City. I imagine you'd get a pretty good turn out for someone like Colorado or Nebraska.

1 game every other year doesn't create a viable fanbase. If we want SEC worthy crowds, we need a traveling St. Louis fanbase. this isn't about some token "Border War" game, this is a long term effort to turn St. Louis Black and Gold when it comes to football.

I like the Border War Game in STL idea so much.

Enhance the fanbase and put that dome to good use.

There have been rumblings of Mizzou and Illinois playing each other at Busch and Wrigley. Hope it's true.

Arkansas in the dome in late November would be nice. We would not have to worry about the weather and it could attract more Arkansas fans.

The Dome has a capacity of 66k. With a decent turnout from both schools I could see 50-60K there for the end of the year game. That is a big enough and hot enough crowd that it could interest potential recruits for both schools.

What section of the budget would you recommend cutting so they can increase the marketing efforts, how much would you cut it, and what would your expected increase in attendance and donorship be?

Yep. My bad. I don't know what took me so long to come around. I think the discussion was just too deep for me to understand earlier. I mean "Our fanbase fricking sucks" is not something that is easy to wrap one's head around without giving it deep thought.
