I'd go with
1. JB Whitworth at Alabama
2. Earl Browm at Auburn
3. Ed Orgeron at Ole Miss
4. Derek Dooley at Tennessee
5. Curley Hallmwn at LSU
6. Charles Shira at MSU
7. John Ray at Kentucky

Trying to think of some others

Bret Bielema needs to be on that list. 11-29 in SEC games.

Whitworth was 4-24-2. Bama couldn't score, much less win. They were shut out ELEVEN times in his three years. In the SIXTY seasons since then, Bama has been shut out.......eleven times!

Ears Whitworth was bad. The three years he was at Bama, he won only 4 games. His record was 4-24-2.

Auburn has a pretty bad coach, Earl Brown, before Shug Jordan. The 3 years he was at Auburn, 1948-50, he was 3-22-4.

Steve Sloan at Ole Miss
Sly Croom at State

And perhaps the worst of all time, Woody Widenhofer 15-40 (4-36)

Either Dooley or Bert since I've been watching SEC ball. When I was at Ole Miss the Nutt hate was pretty high though, he could at least coach but might be the worst with the fanbase.

In my lifetime it’s Curley Hallman. He took a solid LSU team only a couple years removed from an SEC championship and ran it into the ground.

Ears is the worst of all time. What he managed to accomplish at Alabama is breath taking actually.

Consider this: John L. Smith lost his brother and went through a major bankruptcy in 2012 and he still managed to equal "Ears" Whitworth's three year win total.

Whitworth transcended football... he also posted a 1 win and 10 loss season as baseball coach at Georgia. The man was almost super human in his ability to lose.

Do we need more reason to heap scorn and abuse on the man? Yes? Well some folks say he instigated an attack on a black football player during a game while he was head coach at Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State).

Whitworth stands head and shoulders above the worst of the worst.

Oddly enough, he was born in Arkansas and coached at Alabama. The man who replaced him was also born in Arkansas and coached at Alabama. But Bear Bryant is remembered a bit more fondly for his ability to win games.

For Arkansas... we've had our share of one or two season wonders who were horrible... but Bielema holds the statistical record as the worst coach to last 5 years at Arkansas. And, for our sins, he came immediately after John L. Smith's mental breakdown.

Croom had one decent season but also left one of the worst rosters in sec history behind him when he was finally fired. He was a lot worse than his terrible record would suggest.
