Talking about the strength of the SEC West
Bama is better now, obviously, but:
Bama won the west 5 times from 1991-1999.
Bama won the west 5 times from 2009-2017.
Arkansas had 4 losing seasons from 1991-1999, but also won the SEC West.
Arkansas had 3 losing seasons from 2009-2017, never finished better than tied for 2nd in the west.
Auburn finished top 3 in the West 5 times from 1991-1999.
Auburn finished top 3 in the West 4 times from 2009-2017.
LSU is better now, but:
LSU finished #1 or tied for #1 in the West 2 times from 1991-1999.
LSU finished #1 or tied for #1 in the West 1 time from 2009-2017.
Ole Miss had 3 losing seasons from 1991-1999.
Ole Miss had 3 losing seasons from 2009-2017.
Sherrill won the West in his time period here, Mullen never won the West.
Also, Mullen took over a better situation than Sherrill did.
