Most, however, think we are better this year, as do most preseason prognosticators.

Then most of you are in for a shock.

FYI... not every STATE fan was in love with Merlins. I personally couldn't stand the guy. I supported him because he was my coach... except when he lost to South Alabama. Wanted him gone after the 2016 season but nobody was calling.

I don't get the "lazy recruiting" MSU fans keep claiming. I don't follow recruiting at all, but Merlins did find a lot of overlooked talent that made to the NFL.

He has personality issues. For whatever reason, we had 7 D coordinator changes in 9 years, that says something.

The problem with Merlins is he couldn't win the big game. When the lights came on he froze. Saying that, his best coached game was a loss to Bama in 17' which ultimately got his resume back on Indeed.com.

To answer your question, State WILL beat FL this year in Starkville. State WILL have a better record than FL this year. It's yet to be seen what the 4-5 year situation will be for both programs... Moorhead could be the second coming of Dabo Sweeny or a Charlie Weis type coach. I don't think Merlins will get out of Urban's shadow, he never developed past his coattails.
