You got it wrong. Look at any MSU boards aside from any linked here. Mullen is yesterday’s news. The thing that has MSU fans ruffled is the resume writing when he should have been coaching. Hell, it will be a damn relief to not have to go through half of a recruiting cycle with a coach letting the rumors of him leaving keep going.
The thing is, other fans tried to tell MSU fans that Mullen is the ceiling. It gets no better. Well, Moorehead is on track to beat Mullen in recruiting in year one compared to any of Mullen’s years. This includes the offseason after going to the Orange Bowl. Year one.
But it’s a good year in state! Year one. But but but Ole Miss is on probation!! Year uno. Never coached a game yet in the SEC compared to 9 years of Mullen.
And last I checked other SEC teams are still recruiting in MS also.
MSU fans have been more right about Mullen’s recruiting than FL fans. No question about it. Yes it’s July. But when is it ever an excuse to be behind Duke and Iowa State.
With that said, MSU has the better season. It’s not a rebuilding season.

Here's the thing with Mullen:
He left us tons better than he found us.
He's got a great eye for talent ( we have several 2 and 3 stars in the NFL now)
His teams may not be the most talented but they are tough and they play hard.
His teams are well conditioned (they don't get cramps or pulled muscles.) If Florida truly can recruit itself and he gets top 10 talent then Florida will win a natty. He's that good.
State could never beat elite teams because of the talent difference.( mainly at WR)
That being said, this is the most talented State team of my lifetime and I'm 45. I believe State goes 10-2 with losses to Auburn and Bama.
That's where we are as a program, about every 4 years we can possibly win 10 or 11 games and then we will drop back to 7-5 and slowly build it back up.
Nobody thinks we are a better program than LSU or among the SEC elite, but with the way, Mullen develops players and now those players are Juniors and Seniors. We have a chance to compete with the SEC elite this year.

Boom!! Exactly. All we heard from straws was that Mullen couldn't get talent because it was miss st and other teams took the top talent. Now that the top talent is staying home it's:
Om is on probation
Mullen built that for Moorhead
There's a ton of instate guys
Nothing's changed at Miss St except the HCs. That tells you all you need to know. Jim mcelwain for as bad as he was at recruiting never had a class behind damn duke.
