you would have to certifiably bat shite crazy the do this act and stay in the area. These are small town where most everyone knows everyone. Not to mention Reynolds Plantation and the houses there have probably have some of the best security systems in these houses that money can buy. I don't believe this was local people and you would have to be pretty good to go undetected by surveillance systems. The water would be the only way to get in and out and go undetected unless the killer is in the community. Also I would be checking in near by towns for people registered at hotels (there aren't many) because it would take time to know the layout of the lake and how to get there by water. you take the wrong line in some of these stretches of water, you can disable your get away vehicle with a quickness. In my opinion, the killers came by interstate (I20) and came down Hwy 16 to one of the two public ramps on that side of the lake. Very isolated highway with easy transportation to an from the interstate probably went east to Sparta and got on I20 from there since there is less chance of being pulled over or spotted on traffic cameras going through Eatonton. Given the fact that nothing seems to have been stolen from the house, local criminals aren't going to go through the trouble. Someone had a vendetta and the price for completing the job was worth more than whatever someone could move or sell to a pawnshop.

I think the killer(s) may have had a Special Forces type of background. Enter and exit through the water. Smart enough to not leave behind very many clues. The precision cutting of the head.
