You guys had 15 guys drafted off that team the following 2 years including 4 #1's.

Too lazy to look up preseason predictions but seriously doubt any team with that much talent could be the "worst" in modern historty

we can look at his record heading into 2018. 69-46(33-39)

2009
Wins:Jackson St, Vandy, MTSU, Kentucky, Ole Miss

2010
Memphis, Georgia, Alcorn St, Houston, Florida, UAB, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Michigan

2011
Memphis, La Tech, UAB, Kentucky, Tenn-Martin, Ole Miss, Wake Forest

2012
Jackson St, Auburn, Troy, S Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, MTSU, Arkansas

2013
Alcorn St, Troy, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Rice

2014
So Miss, UAB, S Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tenn-Martin, Vanderbilt

2015
So Miss, Northwestern State, Auburn, Troy, La Tech, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, NC State

2016
South Carolina, UMASS, Samford, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miami(OH)

2017
Charleston Southern, la Tech, LSU, byu, UK, TAMU, UMass, ark,

vs Sun Belt:5-1
vs MAC:3-0
vs C USA 10-0
vs AAC 3-1
vs 1AA 9-0
vs P5 1-3

So thats a record of 31-5 in non-conference games against bad teams. That gives him 3.4 wins a year.

Also of note, Miss State has played a power 5 team three times during their non-conference schedule and has lost all of them(BYU, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech) except to 4-9 BYU.

Kentucky is their permanent game from the east. They are 8-1 against them under Mullen. Also, 2-0 against Vanderbilt, and 1-0 against a bad Missouri two years ago.
Thats a record of 11-1.

So we've accounted for 41 of his 69 wins there.

He is 4-5 career against Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Thats not bad right there.

Lets look at his bowl record before heading to the west. Wins against Miami(OH), North Carolina State(7-6), Rice, Wake Forest(6-7), and Michigan(7-6). Losses against Georgia Tech(10-3), and Northwestern(9-3).

We are up to 51 wins, with the signature wins against a 7-6 Michigan team in a bowl, a 6-7 Georgia team, and a 8-5 Florida team.

vs the West
Alabama 0-9
LSU 2-7(win vs 8-5 LSU, 9-4)
Auburn 3-6(beat 8-5, 7-6 Auburn teams)
Arkansas 5-4(beat 7-6, 8-5 Arkansas teams)
Texas AM 3-3(beat 8-5, 8-5, 7-6 A&M teams)
Ole Miss 5-4(beat 8-5, 9-4 Ole Miss teams)

Only has a winning record against Ole Miss and Arkansas and his biggest win in his career is against a 9-4 Ole Miss teams and Ed O led LSU. The rest are against mediocre teams.

He feasted on OOC cupcakes and UK. He's got a terrible record vs the top 25. The fact that he helped Meyer win 2 NCs is irrelevant. Just like Nuss and Mac winning one with Saban. His ceiling is 8-10 wins.

Imo his records here.

9-3 (6-2) losses to UGA, FSU , SCAR

7-5 (5-3) losses to LSU, UGA , another west opponent, Miami and FSU

9-3 (5-3) losses to UGA and LSU and SCAR

8-4 (5-3) losses to UGA, west opponent, LSU, FSU

Fired at the end of the year.

State’s on the field record is actually 574-551-41. We get dinged for the bogus forfeits from 75-77 that made 19 wins/2ties into 21 losses.
So while not great, effectively speaking we are over .500.

Now onto Mullen. I have opined that the Gator Nation will fire Mullen before you all give him the chance to succeed. He did a terrific job at State. For whatever reason he gets skull drugged for his recruiting but in actuality I thought his recruiting was very good and generally under stated/rated during his tenure (especially from 2013 to the present). You look at the talent that State has had and has now and it is really good across the board. Without the freak leg injury to Fitz, we would have been 10-3 in 2017. We played Bama straight up for four quarters. You don’t do that unless you have a lot of good players on the field.

So he did a great job here. We have a few butt hurt fans that want to criticize him now that he has gone. For what? He did a great job and he left a loaded team for Moorhead and Co. How you disparaged that , I don’t know. SMH there on that.

Gator Nation, your patience is needed like never before. CDM will give you a great program/team but his process is a difficult one and the players will struggle hence your greatest success will not come until the early 20’s and beyond.

2018 5-7/6-7/7-6. Team struggles
2019 7-6 continues to struggle but some improvement
2020 8-5 steady improvement and now you have a QB for his system with experience
2021 9-4 more improvement and corner is being turned
2022 and beyond. 10+ wins and rolling

Question is will you have the patience to let him work his program? It will not be dramatic but will be a steady upgrade over 4-5 years.

He'll be fired if he has your predictions by year 3. We're not paying him $6M to go 7-5.

We're playing in the East. McElwain had flat given up and had something like 23 players sitting out by the time we hit FSU. For the majority of the year we had almost or at 20 players not playing.

He'll do better than 8, but not by much. At least this year we have a few tune up games to actually get our team ready out the gate. If we were in the West, it'd be worse, but in the East we just have to not get hurt and not have Feleipe Franks as our QB.

No..being in the West diminishes that argument. Some of our OOC opponents were as good, or better than some East teams over the years when we played them. Still, being in the West means you have to play everyone in the West. It's really a dumb, old argument to make.

When was the last time MSU played a P5 OOC on the road?
FYI we played 2 this year ( on campus)

Not when your including ALL wins when giving me Dan Mullen's victory stats...quite the opposite on fact.

The highest that team was ranked in most publications was 22nd. Most rankings had us in the 35-45 range. Going into the season, No one outside of gainesville thought we had 15 NFL players on the roster, no one thought jarrad Davis, teez tabor, Quincy Wilson, Alex Macalister, Kevin talylor, Bryan cox jr, Jake McGee etc would play the way they did. No one knew what he had in Antonio callaway and Jordan Scarlett. All the talk was “this is the worst Uf team since the late 70s”

going into 2018, anyone who says this is the worst team since the last 70s is blissfully blind and ignorant as to what we currently have on the roster and the amount of underclassmen that played last year. If we figure qb out(and that’s a big if) Uga is fricked in Jacksonville.

Enjoy your prima dona 5 stars Uga.

Once again, please link an article or TV/radio journalist that stated this

Why not? They were part of Book's monster recruiting classes.

You wish you had prima donna 5 stars and I can promise you Mullen will try to recruit 99% of 'am.

Why wouldn't he?

Its a claim based on recruiting rankings and nothing more, so take it up with the ranking services.

Well we played at BYU in 2016. They beat some P5 teams that year. What is all this P5 mania anyway? Playing a P5 team doesn't necessarily mean better. Take a look at P5 programs around the land. There are plenty of those teams out there that are AAC or even Sunbelt comparable, every year.

Mullen will do well at Florida. The eastern division is total shite outside of Georgia. He won 7-8 games a year in the West with a State team good enough to win 9 or more every year had it been in the east. I see him getting Florida to at least 2nd best in the east which should equate to 5th or 6th best team in the SEC.

Just like Gus,Mullen’s success depends on his qb. Mullen likes to run his qb more than Gus. Dak made it without injury. Fitzgerald did not. Jones better get physically ready. He will get hit 20-25 times a game. Good luck with that.
