Vitamin D is a fricking miracle drug and I mean this.
I am a diabetic. In 2009 I was suffering with debilitating diabetic neuropathy, which are shooting pains like electrical shocks in your legs. Think about it like your leg being "asleep" and never stopping. Hurts.
This was such a problem that my doctors sent me to neurologists who did painful nerve tests, I tried accupuncture (which helped some) and I took a variety of meds. This was while watching my insulin and exercising and doing all the "right things" to help myself. No luck. My doctor was ready to send me to the Mayo clinic.
About that time doctors started adding a test for vitamin D levels to standard physicals. My Dr. did the test and found out that my vitamin D level was at a 28. This was on a scale that runs from 30-80. So he prescribed a prescription dose of vitamin D. 20,000 IU dose taken once a week for a month. Then come back for a recheck.
So I get the scrip filled. Within 2 hours of taking the first pill, I stopped having pain. I called the doctor and told him he was a fricking genius. He had no idea what I was talking about. The vitamin D helped me.
Heres what this stuff does. It protects and enhances the mylen sheath on your nerves. This is like the plastic insulation on a electrical wire. excess sugar from diabetes erodes that sheath and causes short circuits. Thats what caused my pain.
Ive taken it every day since and have never had htis problem again. shite WORKS.
its good for your heart for similar reasons and helps with retention of calcium which is good for bones and for nerves too.

Wow didn't know that. My doctor said he put every member of his family on it. He has me on it for it's effect on the immune system and it is good for your heart. I have convinced the rest of my family to take it now.
