Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge, a rising star in the coaching world, is a candidate for the remaining opening on Alabama's staff, AL.com has learned.

Former Crimson Tide graduate assistant Doug Belk is one of the other coaches in the mix for that spot, per sources.

Partridge, a former New Jersey high school coach, has been at Michigan since 2015 and has been the team's linebackers and special teams coach the last two seasons.

The 37-year old was named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout in 2016 and by 247Sports last year.

Belk, who was an Alabama graduate assistant from 2014 through 2016, is currently West Virginia's cornerbacks coach.

As it stands now, the Tide has one remaining opening on its staff with Alabama reportedly set to hire Jeff Banks as special teams coordinator.

It's possible the Tide could fill that position with someone like Partridge to coach inside linebackers. It's also possible Alabama could hire a defensive backs coach like Belk.

New assistant Pete Golding, whom the Tide hired in December, gives Alabama some flexibility.

I'm hoping for Partridge, but now expecting Belk.

A lot of schools are hiring multiple secondary coaches...
