Report: Alabama OC Brian Daboll could return to NFL | BamaOnline
quote:

Still in search for a defensive coordinator following Jeremy Pruitt's departure to Tennessee, Nick Saban may soon be without his head man on the offensive side of the football.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport believes Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll could be heading back to the NFL after one season with the Crimson Tide, where he helped the program to its fifth national championship since 2009 on Monday night.

Brian Daboll, the Alabama offensive coordinator who impressed a couple nights ago replacing his starting quarterback leading to a national title, could return to the NFL,” Rapoport said Wednesday.

Daboll, 42, was a Broyles Award finalist this season after helping Alabama's offense finish in the SEC's Top 5 in nearly every statistical category. The Crimson Tide had the second fewest turnovers in college football (10) and managed the most rushing yards per game (250.6) in the Saban era.

Daboll coached 15 years in the NFL before leaving Bill Belichick's staff as New England's tight ends coach in 2017 to call plays in Tuscaloosa. Daboll is Alabama's sixth offensive coordinator under Saban and third in two seasons.

There's currently six offensive coordinator vacancies in the NFL including the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns.
