Except that he didn't. He was ready to take the A&M job until Aranda called and we put Elko on hold. When Aranda accepted 10 million guaranteed at LSU, it took Elko about 2 minutes to jump on board.

good lord. do A&M fans just prepare spin stories so they're covered regardless of how a coaching hire ends up? Aranda turned A&M down not once, but twice. Elko has turned down Notre Dame once already, we'll see if he turns down A&M for a second time as well. Desperation is not a good look for your AD
