Go to someone at a mid major program (Chad Morris) and say you'll pay them 6 million a year and they are guaranteed at least 5 years. If you don't think they take that deal, you're dumb.

I don’t care if we have 10 mil to pay someone, overpaying a no name coach isn’t going to magically make us good next year.

Luke is holding the team together while we are on probation. If we get a 2 year and he somehow gets AJ DK and Shea and everyone else to stay he will be worth it. You can’t honestly tell me some mid major no name would be able to come in and convince guys he’s never met to stay and magically win games without players.

In recruiting we will be behind the 8 ball enough already, cleaning house for anyone less than a homerun hire would put us back to square 1. We have a big relationship advantage over State right now with instate kids since mullen is gone. As big a letdown it is to do a search and hire the interim, it would be malpractice for Ross to not only throw away 6 mil on a 3 mil coach, but also throw away any advantage we had recruiting while we were on probation at the same time.

ETA: if luke doesn’t workout at least we can easily part ways with him and make a hire with no COI looming. If we throw 6 mil at our 9th choice we are locked in for 5-6 years.

If he gets Shea, AJ, and whoever else to stay with a two year bowl ban who gives a ish...we still are going to suck arse for the foreseeable future. So why base that future on a couple guys who could STILL decide to leave and at best probably only have 1 year remaining at OM anyway?
