In college football you need three things, one intangible: (1) Money; (2) Recruiting base; (3) Commitment to excellence by administration.
Arkansas is pretty good at (1), alright at (3), but they will never be consistently elite because (2) is dreadful. Sorry guys, bad luck there. Y'all can still field solid teams every now and again.

Arky is still missing two things. They don't have enough in state talent to be elite and they lack the name recognition to be able to compete with the big boys for the national big recruits. Sure, they can land some here and there, but they can't land enough to make a huge difference. I will say this, one good coaching hire, and this could easily change.

The big boys in the SEC don’t care about Arkansas. You guys will never be able to recruit like the big boys . You could be the top little 6 team if you make a home run hire . The only problem with a home run hire that a bigger school will steal him unless he has baggage like Petrino . Kiffin would be a great hire . He can recruit and has been in the SEC before. He also is a guy that teams are scared to hire because of his personality. Mike leach would be a good hire .

Arkansas has the same problem as Texas A&m. Trouble acquiring elite talent.
