There is another line of thinking on that front as well though. Maybe Dan is the type of coach that doesn't want to go where it's been done before...where it would be almost immediately expected again. Maybe he is the type of coach that wants to do it where it's never been done. He may want to leave his legacy at a place where it will live forever (similar to Steve Spurrier). If he ever won the SEC at state, even once, he would be a legend forever. And he has worked hard, toiled, and sweat to build State into a respectable program that may just climb that hill. I wouldn't just discount the fact that he is not a competitive coach just because he stays at State. If anything, he is carving his own way despite the disadvantages.

thank you. Somebody gets it. What's the fun, where it's been done. Mullen will have statues and buildings named after him, if he continues to build. He hasn't plateaued yet. Next years team is shaping to be the best yet, ever on paper. He has QB's lined up for the 18 & 19 class. And of course y'all know who Keytaon Thompson already is. The future looks brighter than ever and he knows it. This isn't your grand daddy's it even daddy's Bulldogs anymore. Yeah Tigers, we've beat you twice also in 4 years. Could have easily been 4/4. I understand why you want him to leave though, so you can that automatic W like in the 90's,00's.

I think a lot of LSU people are over rating their status in the SEC West. Saban is gone, Miles is gone. You have a defensive line coach that will slowly erode LSU back to mediocrity. I think they are already there. There will be no "wall" built around Louisiana in recruiting. Canada will soon leave. Aranda leaves either this year or next. The tv ratings this past week show that LSU's former popularity is gone. MSU is a better place to coach than LSU.

Think about this. Not one NCAA football program would ever think about having EO run their program. There are a lot that would want Mullen.

Agree with both of you.

There is something to be said for leading a program to new success and continuing it for a long time without winning a national championship.

Who had the better college coaching career? Beamer at VaTech or Chizik at Auburn? Bill Snyder at Kansas State or Larry Coker at Miami?
