There is another line of thinking on that front as well though. Maybe Dan is the type of coach that doesn't want to go where it's been done before...where it would be almost immediately expected again. Maybe he is the type of coach that wants to do it where it's never been done. He may want to leave his legacy at a place where it will live forever (similar to Steve Spurrier). If he ever won the SEC at state, even once, he would be a legend forever. And he has worked hard, toiled, and sweat to build State into a respectable program that may just climb that hill. I wouldn't just discount the fact that he is not a competitive coach just because he stays at State. If anything, he is carving his own way despite the disadvantages.

Saying all this, I don't think anyone could blame him if he did leave for greener pastures and I am not saying he won't. Just providing another view of it.

Come on now. State is never winning a title. I get what you're trying to say, and at some programs that would be a viable option, but mississippi state isn't going to win a title. I would say that texas am would be a job that you're line of thinking would apply to. They have the resources and recruiting footprint to possibly do some damage and win a title one day, but you're talking about miss state. They have never won a national title in ANYTHING, EVER. They have only played for it 2 times in baseball and womens basketball. Like I said, it would take a miracle for state to win a national title in football in the division and conference they happen to be in. For instance, LSU and nick saban were a program in your line of thinking, a sleeping giant that hadn't won a national title in 50 years before then, but that was LSU, it was just a matter of time before the right coach got it going, not mississippi state.

That's what I'm HOPING for. The guy has pulled in 2 and 3 star talent that became all-sec. Now he's established something and recruiting is getting better. I think he stays, he does return almost everyone next year.

thank you. Somebody gets it. What's the fun, where it's been done. Mullen will have statues and buildings named after him, if he continues to build. He hasn't plateaued yet. Next years team is shaping to be the best yet, ever on paper. He has QB's lined up for the 18 & 19 class. And of course y'all know who Keytaon Thompson already is. The future looks brighter than ever and he knows it. This isn't your grand daddy's it even daddy's Bulldogs anymore. Yeah Tigers, we've beat you twice also in 4 years. Could have easily been 4/4. I understand why you want him to leave though, so you can that automatic W like in the 90's,00's.
