We still have to prove it on the field. We had the better roster in 2012, but when the game went off script in the SECCG, Saban was the x-factor. If he coached UGA that year, we would have won the championship. Hopefully Kirby is up to the task. He can recruit like Saban, but to dethrone Bama you have to outcoach him. Time will tell.

We also had 69 scholarship players versus Bama's 85. Having 16 less players for depth MIGHT have contributed to our inability to stop the run in the fourth quarter.

We didn't have depth on the DL.
Derrick Lott left the program in the offseason prior and Abry Jones had a season ending injury.
There was no way our defense was going to hold up against Bama. John Jenkins was out of position at DE and Kwame Geathers was a poor substitute at NT.
