I'll admit that. He did pretty good considering what he took over. Did some great recruiting and that will leave the pantry pretty well stocked for the next guy. Tennessee and the SEC is too much for Butch...he will never be a championship coach at this level. He did what he could but at this level and getting the money he is getting, that is well short of what is expected.

^^This. The job was simply too much for him. CBJ worked his arse off at UT (no one questions that) and did almost everything right off the field and even some good on the field. BUT the job is too big for him. He plateaued in 2015 and the pressure has been too much for him -- he's taken steps backward because of it.

I think he'd be a fantastic coach at a P5 school like Vanderbilt or Purdue or at lower levels but CBJ can't handle the press or the pressure. He melted under it all and was a better gameday coach when he arrived than he is now. He needs to coach somewhere where there's a lot less heat and expectations. He'd do well there.
