Hurts is only good for 10 completions per game
How do you figure that? Hurts completions in games thus far:
2016: 6, 23, 19, 16, 20, 13, 17, 15, 10, 28, 15, 27, 11, 7, 13
2017: 10, 14, 13, 9, 12, 13
He's averaging 'bout 15 completions a game and this doesn't factor in the blowouts...

and drops happen.
Yeah...and so do bad passes. Seems to me there's been 'bout an equal amount of both this season...

I think Hurts has to get better for us to win it all...but I can also see where he's progressed from last season. He's looking off safeties more now and he's going deeper into his reads than last year...his deep throws are much better and he's throwing over the middle more. He's also keeping his eyes downfield more as he scrambles. On the flip side he still misses some reads, he's occasionally not on time with his medium routes, and, particularly in games where he gets a lot of pressure, he's quick to tuck and run (some times he has to, some times not).
The passing game is not all on the QB...while I think we have a decent OL, considering the good and great ones we've had in the recent past, I'd say this line, at least at this point in time, may be the least effective OL we've had in quite a while. As for receivers, I think we have a good bunch but seems like we've had more drops this year...I think Foster and Sims just had an off game as they've usually been more dependable than that. But while Hurts needs to clean up some things and the receivers need to show better hands, I'm far more worried 'bout the OL than either of those...

The staff has to give Hurts a dumbed down playbook with short high percentage throws because he can't do much else. We will be much better off when Tua takes over.

Jet sweeps...technically a pass, but for all practical purposes a handoff...shouldn't even be considered when evaluating passing statistics. And I don't put that much stock in bubble screens, either, when evaluating our passing game. The reality is that for almost a full season now, we haven't had much of a downfield passing game, and it's for a variety of reasons...poor pass protection, bad route running, receivers not working back to the QB when he's under pressure, receivers dropping balls, a QB that doesn't check down to secondary receivers very well and is quick to bail on the pocket and run. It is what it is.
