Still can't be in the club.
Integrity AND academics.
I apologize for the club application denial.

Didn't realize I was applying for anything.
I was just stating, with extreme relief, that the DOJ announced we are in the clear. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been worried bc of that Evans douchebag.

No, thank you - I may be too young to know of his time at UF from anything but media but I'm intimately familiar with both his and Pell's stories. Hall's violations were wrong but far lighter than what the rest of the SEC was doing. The rest of the SEC couldn't BEAR seeing UF win the league so you took Hall's championship away while at the same time cheating like devils (but maybe not as badly/stupidly as Pell).
So yes I do know the history, but everything I do know points to Hall being a good man who did a little bit of bad because he had no other choice. And he got punished FAR too severely because the school was already still reeling from Pell. And that's a fact. I'm sorry that I confused rent with child support. Another reason for me to admire Hall even more. He took care of his boys and made sure they were okay at a time when head coaches weren't making shite for money.
Why do you think he gave anything to the assistants? They were basically paupers back then. Basing the entire story of his legacy on those transgressions is incredibly unfair of you. He has no place being mentioned next to those other guys.

So much so you said he paid rent... it was child support, besides the coach supplemental payments

I made a transcription error. Big frickin deal - better than the human feces that most of the board's population pinches off on a daily basis. There was no satire in my last post. I admire Galen Hall and even if it did work out I'll still admit he got more than he deserved.

You don't post the wrong reason in a VERY SERIOUS manner and then get away with saying

Nobody ever proved Coach Bryant broke a single NCAA rule at Bama. I’m pretty sure A&M got put on probation on his watch and a lot of his assistants were guilty. Here’s the thing: by the late 60’s/early 70’s Bryant was so entrenched and powerful with influence in college football, he and a small cabal of coaches ran the sport. If you crossed him, he could pick up the phone and have your job in a matter of minutes. And that included just about anyone in the NCAA. So maybe he did cheat, I can’t tell you one way or the other. If he did and some NCAA investigator was damn fool enough to go after him, he’d be unemployed. I know in most cases he didn’t have to. I imagine if he broke rules, it would be rules he thought were stupid, like I could see him giving a player money to pay a bill or something if the player was in a tight spot. He loved his players. I doubt he ever bought players.
If you want an example of his influence, it is widely known he’d call up his buddies late in the year and say “ Joe (Paterno), let’s decide who’s playing in which bowl.” And he and Joe Pa and Darryl Royal and Frank Broyles and a couple of others would do just that.

How about talking about all of the reasons why Galen Hall deserves to be remembered foremost for those violations? I'll tell you why - because they don't exist, and you've deflected 3 posts. I should have quit you after the first.

quote:Awesome post, thank you sir. I had heard that he acted sort of like a CFB mob boss like you mentioned. Hard to hold that against him too much though since only a few schools had any influence. Overall he seems like a decent man to me, but I'm not a Bear Bryant expert like I said before.

If you've got another post in you, what do you think about the way he managed the roster? I've heard from multiple sources that he pulled offers and scholarships from a whole lot of kids (or maybe it was something similar that I've never heard of; the rules were so damn lax back then). Did the other major coaches do the same stuff?
I figure the original topic of this thread is stupid enough that we can ignore it without feeling bad. I put in my shitposts for the day.

Sorry it bothers you but you were attempting to be a bad arse with calling someone out, and then you flopped and made the lame excuse of calling it a transcription error.
Yeah, I live with my mom if that helps you out some how.
Did you miss the very first one where I said the violations were not egregious in anyway? I never responded to you to bash Hall to begin with.
I don't give a shite about Galen Hall. I don't care if he was fired or crowned King. Is he even alive anymore? I wouldn't care either way.

That shark was chasing after a little girl who had just gotten scraped by a barnacle. Bet they never mentioned that on your fake news source. It was purely a justice frick.
Coach Mac is a fricking hero for giving the shark what it deserved.

I think you are implying major rule, and I believe y'all got a major in the mod 60s for recruiting players at other schools
