I'd like to know what some other people think about what I am about to write.

The NFL is just boring to watch.

Was thinking back to when I liked the NFL. The Redskins weren't a team I pulled for, but they could run the ball down your throat one week, and fill the air with footballs the next.

The Chargers were pretty consistent with what they did. You actually saw variety with NFL offenses. I used to like the Browns at that time. They had a Bob Griese clone (Brian Sipe) and the two Pruitts, Greg and Mike in the backfield. Fun offense to watch, even if they were a run first team.

But the big thing to me is that most teams actually had running games. Some teams actually WON games by running the ball.

Now it is just pass, pass, pass. Sure you see running plays, but you have to win by passing. Really don't think there is a team in the league that could "establish the run," as they used to put it. I don't think you can "establish the run," the rules cater to passing, and the book has been written and closed on shutting down running games that have pocket qb's. There are no new wrinkles or innovations coming for that.

Barring some kind of rule change that promotes running, I don't think it ever will change in the NFL either.

Politics, protests aside, I really find NFL games utterly boring to watch. Even their ... competence kind of makes it more boring sometimes. You don't see the interesting plays on returns you sometimes see in college.
