Danny thinks SOS would consider accepting the OC position and coaching, if you left him alone and he didn't have to recruit. Wouldn't be in the SEC, except

If you're going to bring Spurrier back, why would you even keep Mac?

He just kept asking The question over and over hoping to get a headline. HBC is not going to be the O coordinator.

Spurrier wasn't even good offensively at South Carolina. The game passed him by a long time ago. And what kind of major college program would willingly handcuff their program by not expecting their OC to help recruit offensive players? Why would a top offensive recruit commit to a school whose playcaller cant even be bothered to come visit you and your mother?

Who still watches this crap? The only thing worse than Paul is those 2 nerds on his show talking with the mics

If he's not going to recruit his own players then how likely is his offense going to produce?
Shits idiotic. BOTH Steve and Danny are old has been geezers.

Was Uncle Milty by his side admitting to being the bagman?

Spurrier was top notch 15 years ago. He just doesn't have the heart to put up all the effort needed now.
Remember he just quit on USCe about this time of year, which is inexcusable IMO.
Perhaps he could be used in a small consultant role, but I doubt he'd want to do much more than that.

Tell him to come to Bama, Kiffin didn't recruit either, we do fine in that department.

SOS is rightly a coaching legend, and he could still coach a pretty good offense, no question. But it's been 20 years of change and evolution on both sides of the ball since the heyday of the Fun-n-Gun, and Spurrier no longer has the edge. I wouldn't say the game has passed him by, but the landscape has certainly changed. Spurrier's offense was innovative and exciting, and every team in the SEC (and the nation, if you don't count Nebraska) was forced to adapt. That was his influence on the game. But innovation has an inherently limited shelf-life, and Spurrier's innovations no longer have the advantage they had in the 1990s. He'd be a decent OC hire. But he wouldn't be a home run hire anymore, especially if he refused to parley his status as a coaching egend into good recruiting efforts.

HBC could no doubt draw up ball plays. It would be up to someone else to recruit, develop, and get the players ready. The man can call plays. Even when things were going bad with him at SC, he could still get guys open. Problem was it was a 2 Walk On WRs being thrown to by a walk on QB behind a 2 star OL.... eventually the Jimmys and Joes will beat the Xs and Os.
