5-2 is what your team does in a base defense against a team that wants to run the football.

It is essentially the Buday Ryan Bears defense minus a linebacker at safety.

Grantham struggled at UGA when spread out (our ends of the 4 man fronts couldn't hold the edge). That does not have to be a problem for you guys, but does happen a lot when a 3-4 OLB is asked to put his hand on the ground.

I'm guessing that it is too soon for you to know the patterns and deficiencies of Grantham'Grantham's schemes.

State has a couple of freaks playing OLB....Green and Sweat....they really open the middle for Simmons. It is very difficult to get the edge against State because of their outside backers. Most haven't heard those names, but they will.

That is why they usually say it takes a couple of years. Your DE's need to be bigger, you need a big hybrid DE / LB to play the outside backer / pass rusher edge position.
