Just curious Hogs. Why did the loss to what will probably turn out to be a good TCU team send you guys over the edge already? I know Bert gets joked about a lot but it seems awful early to throw in the towel. What's the deal? If you can win your next 3 it sets you up nicely for a showdown with Bama.

You're only seeing the straw that broke the camel's back. Losses to Toledo and Texas Tech are what started things. Then getting blown out by Auburn, and collapsing against Mizzou and Va Tech.

We have the same problems in year 5 that we've always had with Bert. Bad O-line play (which is supposed to be his strength). Coming out for some games (especially early in the season) looking totally unprepared. Never making 2nd half adjustments - I think we've gone scoreless in the 2nd half in each of the last 3 games against p5 schools. Absolute shite special teams play - poor kick coverage, inconsistent punter, kicker that can't make extra points.

The other thing is that Bert hasn't done anything to earn any lenience from the fans. The Arkansas fanbase doesn't expect to be Bama. But we do expect to make some noise and be a threat every 3-4 years or so, with some decent seasons in between. Nutt (had a great season in '98, won the west in '02 and '06 - also had special players in Matt Jones and Dmac that kept the fanbase more satisfied) and Petrino (never won the division but had us in the mix) were both able to accomplish that moreso than Bert. He has had 1 mediocre season at Arkansas, but nothing really special to give the fanbase any hope for the future.

There is about 5% of the fan base that do 95% of the whining. If the team causes that much anxiety, quit watching. I still believe the Hogs will have a good season.

Jim Mora said it best:

quote:

Well, what happened was, that second game, we got our arse kicked. In the second half, we just got our arse totally kicked. We couldn’t do diddly poo offensively, we couldn’t make a first down, we couldn’t run the ball, we didn’t try to run the ball, we couldn’t complete a pass – we sucked. The second half, we sucked. We couldn’t stop the run. Every time they got the ball, they went down and got points. We got our arse totally kicked in the second half – that’s what it boiled down to. It was a horseshite performance in the second half. horseshite. I’m totally embarrassed and totally ashamed. Coaching did a horrible job. The players did a horrible job. We got our arse kicked in that second half. It sucked. It stunk.
