Classic Georgia delusion thinking they are on the same level as the defending national champions.

Nobody thinks we are on the same level as the reigning National Champions. I do think our pass rush might be as good, though.

Odds are Auburn will have their third Heisman QB in a row? Oh, wait.

Weird time to start this thread...shouldn't you wait until they lose a game or something?

Smart is gonna do just fine at UGA.

Matter of fact I expect some epic battles between Boom and Kirby in coming years. Their friendship, born as former teammates, has all the earmarkings of a vicious rivalry in coming years. Both with a Saban lineage, both very competitive, one a scholarship players the other a hard working walk-on, both UGA alumni ... both coaches are going to do just fine.

Who knows, this year may mark the beginning of their rivalry.

I tend to think Smart is going to do well at Georgia. My personal take is he is making a mistake going with that pro style, as opposed to a spread. Anything Florida did with Meyer could be easily, easily duplicated at Georgia.

But the guy definitely knows more about football than I do, so what is an armchair guy gonna do?

Anyway I really wanted Smart as the guy to replace Spurrier. You never know what the teabag really is till it gets wet, and the jury is still out on Smart really in that regard. But it looks.. like it will pan out now.

Smart has to be the guy who prepared himself for a head gig in the most thorough manner possible. Him, and the Pitt head coach, Narduzzi (another guy I think would have been a great fit, but he took the Pitt job while Spurrier decided to come back for what turned out to be the last year) did the best jobs at that of anyone I can think of ever.

Anyway so far I'm very happy with Muschamp. He literally has done everything right. Even what I thought he was wrong about initially (pulling Bentley's redshirt) turned out to be right.

Another thing is, that from all reports, both Smart and Muschamp KNOW everyone in the coaching fraternity and are well liked. Contacts like that are always good to have. When assistants move on, they both have a rolodex of guys to talk to.

Also while I got mocked for it on this site, I think both guys will stay put (well assuming they are both successful regarding college jobs). Kirby Smart had a radio interview about recruiting with an Atlanta radio station. Reading between the lines on that, he absolutely understood the importance of recruiting, but also stated it was tough. Real tough. Bored recruit calling you at one in the morning tough, and you just have to talk to him, you know?

No matter how good you are at it, how much of a work ethic, unless you have the kind of personality that makes you talk to rocks if no one else is around, you will eventually get burnt out on that.

I think both Muschamp's and Smart's next coaching gigs are in the NFL, assuming everything goes as they hope.

Is it really still "triggered" when it's a permanent state of being?

Good point. Seems like it is a part of Phan's personality now.

Phan was, is and always will be triggered!
