Every year the PAC 12 and all other conferences are soft while the SEC is great.

I hate to inform you but besides Alabama your conference in 2017 has only one big victory. This was Tennessee over Ga Tech with Georgia Tech dominating the statistics.
This is if you not include UGA over ND. But like everyone of you say ND is no one

The SEC may look even worse when Ole Miss loses to Cal Saturday night

Auburn gave up around 450 yards of total offense against Clemson last year. Only 285 yards this year, and most came on their two touchdown drives.

Clemson's two touchdown drives consisted of about 170 yards. They only had about 115 yards on offense the entire rest of the game

What if Clemson is really not that good.
What if Louisville beats Clemson 41-13 this week.
It is not like we know who Clemson is yet. Afterall they have a inexperienced QB.
So that Auburn loss may not be so good in a few days if Clemson gets blown out

This hypothetical is a Big if of course. Comparing a QB in his 2nd start to Watson doesn't work.

Because Clemson supposedly returned a good deal of players from their national championship team. That includes 4 or 5 starters on their offensive line, two five star wide receivers, and another kid who was maybe their most effective wide receiver against bama in the last two national championship games.

Their biggest question was replacing Deshaun Watson, and that kid looked fairly good to me

Oklahoma played Nebraska, and Texas, every year, for decades. Alabama is the only "blue-blood" that has never shared a conference with another blue-blood, or had one scheduled every year as an OOC rivalry opponent.

Allow me to retort…..

The SEC vs ACC non conference rivalries are well known and apply to both the 4 known yearly games and the 4 to 8 more not as well known outside the south like Auburn vs Clemson, Auburn vs Georgia, North Carolina vs South Carolina, etc. etc

First of all, the Iron Men of Sewanee (Sewanee was a charter SEC member) have been generally recognized as the greatest football team of all time. They were a member of the old SIAA from which the SEC was born. Centre College (also a former SIAA school) was not only the first non IVY to break the IVY dominance of early football (before the B1G, Big 8, PCC, or SWC) but also the opponent that created the "12th man" for Texas A&M. While texas may have a high percentage win ratio, it should be noted they were dominated early on by Vanderbilt who also had a dozen early conference championships.

Before World War II, the private schools still held sway in college football and the GI Bill after the war gave rise to the state schools. This does not negate the history of schools like Tulane (who turned down the Rose Bowl for academic reasons) allowing Alabama to take their place and the game in the 1920's that changed the perception of college football in the south forever. It should also be noted that teams with high % wins also were not travelers so when Michigan played say Vanderbilt it might be 4 games in Ann Arbor for every 1 game in Nashville.

While I was not alive in this early era my parents were so I was hearing firsthand from those who played or lived in the time. They were not ghosts of the past like they would for many on wbesites that were born as the children and grandchildren of the baby boomers and who were not alive in the 1990's, much less the 1980's or 1970's when I was a full grown adult. I grew up knowing the power of Georgia Tech when they were still in the SEC and winning 3 MNC's. Talk of The Six was spoken around the dinner table by those who played in the SEC from WW II to the 1970's.

Before Bear Bryant and Nick Saban the Tide had Wade Wallace and Frank Thomas. Before the fat man at Tennessee you had coaches like Robert Neyland and Johnny Majors and a history of solid winning dating back to the end of World War I. Georgia Tech in the SEC had 3 different MNC coaches in 3 different eras and strong national football presence from World War I to their exit from the SEC.

After you get past Oklahoma and Nebraska in the old MVC and Big 8, where are your MNC schools with say 3 or more in conference?

List them

Same with the SWC past texas, who has say 3 or more MNC's in the SWC history?

Wisconsin .580 1226 = IND / Western / B1G
Pittsburgh .575 1274 = IND / Big East / ACC
Boston College .573 1170 = IND / Big East / ACC

Florida State is at .681 but did not have the required 600 wins for inclusion, other schools may also merit inclusion so feel free to suggest who and why they should merit inclusion. The teams below were below the Top 30 and had winning percentages below .575 and were not included. Boston College was below .575 but made the Top 30.

Alphabetical order for excluded teams

Arizona - below .575

There has only been one conference who had consecutive championships with different schools.

Every other time a conference had back to back titles, it was the same school.

I know you are stating the obvious, but some outside the SEC just hear what they want to hear. In a way, it makes their tears all the more delicious.

All time, the Longhorns are 189-94-10 against SEC teams in regular-season games, and 12-7-1 in bowls.

You do not get to count Arkansas, Texas A&M, or Missouri wins in the SWC or B12. I do believe Texas A&M beat you a few games back when they were in the SIAA (as precursor to SEC). I did not count Cocks beating you before SEC but did include SIAA and SoCon records for current SEC schools.

7-1-1 Alabama (7 before 1980, most close, only 1 game in AL, 5 in TX)
5-3-0 Auburn (3-1 before 1980, 2-2 since, only 2 games in Auburn, 5 in TX)
2-3-0 Arkansas (Hogs joined SEC in 1992, 4 of 5 games played in TX)
2-0-1 Florida (all games before WW II, NONE since, 2 played in austin)
3-1-0 Georgia (3-0 before 1960, 0-1 since 1984, only 1 game played in GA)
1-0-0 Georgia Tech (14-7 in 1943 Cotton Bowl, played in TX)
1-0-0 Kentucky (7-6 @ austin - never played return trip in Lexington)
9-7-1 LSU (8-7 up to the early 1960's, 1-0 in 2003 Cotton Bowl, 11 played in TX)
6-2-0 Ole Miss (5-1 up to mid 1960's, 1-1 since 2012, 6 of 8 played in TX)
2-2-0 State (1-0 up to 1990, 1-2 since 1990, 3 of 4 games played in TX)
0-0-0 Missouri (ZERO games played since Tigers joined SEC)
0-0-0 South Carolina (Cocks beat texas in 1957 in austin tho, 27-21)
2-1-0 Tennessee (3 games played in 1950's and 1960's, all in TX)
0-0-0 Texas A&M (ZERO games played since Aggies joined SEC)
8-0-0 Tulane (1955 to 1965, 5 in austin and just 3 in NOLA)
0-0-0 Sewanee (4-3-0 between 1898 and 1915 tho)
3-8-1 Vanderbilt (8 games played in TX, Dores made that arse quit)

If I did deduct games before the SEC formed in 1932 these wins would be removed from texas record vs the SEC.

3 wins against Alabama, 2 in austin (1902, 1915, 1922)
3 wins against Auburn, all in TX (1910, 1911, 1925)
3 wins against LSU, all in TX (1899, 1907, 1910)
3 wins against Ole Miss, all in TX (1912, 1914, 1925)
1 win against State in austin in 1921
1 win against Tulane in austin in 1908
3 wins against Vanderbilt in TX (1900, 1923, 1927)

That is 17 fewer texas wins and showcases the folks in austin stacking the deck by playing a very unequal number of games in TX instead of equal home and home with said schools. Easy to pads the stats with such imbalances and similar to Michigan and other non SEC schools who have fed on unbalanced home and home games. Rent a win games are expected, but to play so many current P5's at your home field with such imbalances does create more hollow wins.

51-28-4 Texas roughly all time vs SIAA to SoCon to SEC schools

- 17 wins before they were SEC schools
- 9 wins for Georgia Tech and Tulane not being in SEC any more
(did not go back year by year for Sewanee as texas did not play them as SEC)

That means 25-28-4 all time Texas vs current SEC schools as SEC schools

Not quite the number you present in your post above. It is interesting tho that not having your own way in the old SIAA (and some SIAA losses) made you quit the SIAA. TAMU was having success in the old SIAA before you had them quit and join the SWC. Guess it took them another 100 years to go back where they started and left you behind in a dying B12.

Even people in Lubbock don't want to be there, much less fans from a current SEC school

Maybe, their sports programs most closely match most current SEC schools

Stillwater, no thanks. Starkville is already ahead of them as a place to watch a game
