This is the game of the week (my opinion). The winner has a shot at #2 in the SEC (nobody beats Bama).

These are that stats (not that they mean much at this point):

Total Defense:

LSU- 5th
MSU- 6th

Scoring Defense:

MSU- 21 points
Lsu- 10 points

Sacks Allowed:

MSU #1
LSU #24

Stats That are interesting:

Passing yards allowed:

MSU- 4th
LSU- 24th

Rushing Defense:

LSU #1
MSU #26

Rushing Offense:

MSU #11... 304 per game
LSU #18... 259 per game

Passing Offense:

LSU #84... 207 per game
MSU #89... 203 per game

Tackles for a loss:

MSU #28
LSU #77

----------------------------------------------------------

Fitz --- 4th in nation in points responsible for
Guice --- 54th

----------------------------------------------------------

Where does that leave us?

From watching both teams against their opponents and what they produced (taking into account who they played) I believe MSU will win this game.

1- MSU is at home.

2- MSU may be the most improved team in the SEC on defense. The mind set is different and the style they play helps them vs the run and pressuring the QB.

These chump teams LSU has played has gotten to the QB 2 times and those defenses are not in the same boat as MSU's. On the other hand, MSU hasn't allowed a sack. That's due to the style of play by MSU offense too.

3- MSU seems to have lost their 150 pound backs. Collectively, MSU has 3 of the top 15 rushers in the SEC.

Guice (LSU)is averaging 5.3 per carry.
Williams (MSU) is averaging 7.6
Fitz (MSU) is averaging 8.9
Hill (MSU) is averaging 6.5

4- TE play of MSU. I don't see LSU being able to handle the MSU's TEs, play the run, and stop the WRs. This is the one area that has been a surprise to see.

5- MSU fans... correct me if I am wrong. Am I seeing 2 defensive units being switched out on the field? I don't know the names well enough, but it looks like I'm seeing mass subs.

Either way, I don't see MSU wearing down in this game.

I think MSU has played slightly better competition and probably a better team right now but the puppies do tend to shite the bed in games that have a decent build up to them.

Dont count on an 87 yard frumble from LSU. La Tech ran through MSU's D honestly. For like 240.

Now I am not saying its going to be a blow out, but MSU will not stop Guice. Because of that, Etling will hit the throws needed.

Should be close and LSU pulls away in the late 3rd and keeps it out of reach.

Well to be fair, LSU hasn't been at full strength yet, Guice isn't 100%, and we're breaking in a new offensive system.

Also, while State has faced a better offense in La. Tech, LSU has faced a far better defense in BYU.

It will be a good game. The matchup to watch is LSU's DL vs MSU's OL.

State will put up 50 points on that cupcake Defense.

Down vote L6U fans if you are scared of MSU.

You realize this is the week that Canada starts to reveal his hand some, right? Also Aranda shut down Jackson. I'm not scared of any QB that can run after that.

31-10 LSU

LSU beat MS State 17 of the last 18 games. So yeah, I feel pretty confident

Mississippi State usually has a pretty good out of conference record. In conference not so much. They also most of the time but not always give LSU a pretty good game, but almost always lose. 38 - 14 LSU.
