I think you are incorrect. If you catch the ball with any part of your body out of bounds on a kickoff I believe it is the same as kicking the ball out of bounds.

You might be right. It doesn't seem right to me, but I can't recall ever seeing it in college. If you have an example please give a link if you have the time.
