Pretty much but you're missing a few key details regarding our athletic director. The common denominator is the horndog son. He "resigned" in September 2016, but after his dad basically cried, our athletic director rehired him.
Resigned, or took a leave of absence while the anonymous allegations were vetted?

Secondly, the AD was asked about the investigation but mislead the media and fans and said he didn't know about it.
Jacobs should have followed his PR tips and responded with the "can't discuss personnel/investigations" publicly.

Third, it appears our AD offered a contract extension to the head coach while the investigation was going on, not a good look.
Not a good look, but whoredog son who as thought to be the core problem was already out the door. So it wasn't a completely idiotic move to discuss an extension with the best softball HC you've ever employed.

Auburn is and will be fine
I agree 100%

it's the dumbass athletic director who is dragging us through the mud right now.
The media is driving this shite, not your AD.

Had he never rehired the son,
Corey obviously lied to the Administration, his dad made efforts to cover for him to keep him on staff (he is a damn good coach) and it probably took a lengthy investigation to get enough on him to force his resignation.

the lawsuit is likely never filed.
Ehh, these players were catty as hell, vindictive, jealous of one anther and acted out to damage each other. This lawsuit may have been coming regardless of whether Corey resigned in Sept '16 or six months later.
