I have read that statement multiple times this week and it is just mildly amusing. Is that really how you feel? I am not trolling, it's just getting old talking about Hugh. I would think you will be disappointed since he is an offensive minded coach who helped change the way offense is played nowadays. You guys used to swear by his genius so this is a little unexpected. Is it still gonna be Gus's offense?

I am not one that believes this...he clearly didn't trust CRL and whatever dysfunction that caused I hope he and Chip fix it. I however do not want him out of the offense. I believe it is lazy to believe that Gus and his meddling caused the issues with the offense in 2015 and 2016. The oline both seasons was average to below average. The QB play both seasons was below average to atrocious. Anyone working with that would struggle.

Criticize Gus all you want for player development (though neither OL or QB development is directly connected to the Head Coach). Criticize Gus for being a poor judge of QB talent (though NFL GM's lose their jobs with more resources and information to pick QB's every year). In the end, IMO his biggest mistake was hiring CRL in 2013. IMO he was always a weakness. To his credit he was likable and was often defended by insiders reporting on Auburn. Which is why you see Auburn posters now defending CRL when 3 years ago they criticized him as dead weight on the staff.
