Why was Bama so bad from 1992 til 2009 (sans 1999)?

I mean, I know your coaching hires during that time were questionable and you cheated and got some sanctions for it, but with Bama being Bama, I thought you would be able to overcome those things.

However, you guys were bad until Saban's arrival (sans a fluke year in 1999).

Did the fan base just give up after one bad season and didn't come back til Saban brought you to the promise land? I mean, you guys had some awful seasons in that span.

I will tell you, I was at the Florida-Bama game in 2005 when Prothro broke his leg and Bryant-Denny was not full.

We had to play catch up to our Big Brother Auburn.

It was a difficult time for us as fans. We rarely could show our colors or yell RTR. I hated it so much back then.

However, our boosters came up with a new plan and we found ways to buy...errrrr...get players excited to attend Bama again. Having King Saban has been a great source of income to the playe....errrr....Program.

RTR!

They won the SEC in 1999. It was a decent run

Won numerous division titles in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2002*, 2008

Undeafeted regular season in 1994, etc

Bad or average by their standards, but that's a good run by most standards. Better than Tennessee of 2008-present.

92 - National Championship
94 - Won SEC West; Beat Ohio State
96 - Won SEC West; Beat Michigan
99 - Won SEC
02 - 10 wins
05 - 10 wins; won Cotton Bowl

That's a golden era for most schools.

They went 12-1 in 1994, 10-3 in 1996, 10-3 in 1999, 10-3 in 2002, 10-2 in 2005, and 12-2 in 2008. That's winning 10+ in 50% of the time frame you outlined.

They were God awful. I'll give you that, but every one of those coaches who played against Florida during that time (including Mike DuBose and Mike Shula) beat Florida during that time.

3 really bad years. 6 years of 10+ seasons. Looks like failure was more the exception than the rule even during the most down time in over 50 years. It wasn't up to standards, but I think most SEC teams would have been thrilled to have 6 seasons of 10+ seasons during a 12 seasons stretch.

This is bullshite. Go to the 17 minute mark - while Bama was kicking Florida's arse - and watch the scan of the crowd.

Will Florida ever climb into the top 100 in total offense again?

I dunno.

Why has Florida been bad since 2008?

Why did Florida suck pretty much since before 1991?
