How Would a 13 Member SEC Schedule Play Out if it Came to That?

On a temporary basis, would the divisions be dropped until a 14th team could be added, with the top 2 playing in the championship game? Also, who would be the logical 14th team to be added, Oklahoma, Houston, or would the conference look east to add a more robust untapped tv market?

I know we've had the random expansion threads and "who would replace Ole Miss" threads in the past, but the possibility of this happening doesn't seem as far-fetched as it did previously.

You cant drop divisions and have a championship game unless you do a complete round robin.

OM isn't going anywhere. This is stupid.

Look, I know you're afraid of Houston, but you don't have to get huffy about it.

If it really came down to that, they would likely add a 3rd east opponent game to the west teams. According to the rules as I understand it following the hurricane fiasco, you have to play your 8 SEC games to qualify for the SECCG.

I guess they could also have each west play one west team twice. But there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth for some then. Double-header Iron Bowl ftw!

Not sure that would work, because 6 of the east teams would play 9 SEC games with the 6 west and 1 east teams playing 8 conference games, correct?

Just play a regular season schedule and the first weekend in December everybody meet up at Talladega for a tournament to decide the champ, travel ball style.

Yeah odd number would be messy. Since the schedules for SEC games are way in advance, whoever already has them on the schedule could get a forfeit win I suppose.

It doesn't work. That's why we have Missouri. That's also one reason why the NCAA wouldn't seriously consider the death penalty, because the collateral damage to other SEC schools would be tremendous.

Stupid hypothetical, but if you're really curious, the MAC had 13 teams as recently as 2015. Just figure out how they did it.

in 8 years Mizzou won't have a team or a univesity so this is relevant even if OM doesn't get kicked out

There are a lot of ways it could be done, and I think we could assume the SEC would find the worst, most fricked-up one.

LA is behind because you guys teach cajun and creole languages. Not english so reading is hard for your students.
